Students in Years 2 and 3 participated in the School Swimming Scheme during Term 4.
This was an intensive two week program of daily swimming lessons ran by the NSW Department of Education and Communities. The program was held at the Fairfield City Leisure Centre where qualified swimming instructors first assessed all students to grade them into appropriate swimming groups. Swimming lessons were 45 minutes in duration and followed a prescribed program including learning about water safety knowledge and skills, practice of different swimming strokes and correct breathing techniques.
At the end of the two weeks all swimmers were re-tested and a special certificate was awarded to them showing their progress and achievement upon completion of the program.
